Olympiad Is Just Around the Corner. Are You Ready?

Excitement is building on campus as the second annual Olympiad draws near! The multi-day event will take place April 17-19.
Olympiad is a weekend of team competitions that pits students against each other for a time of fun, creativity and community.
Tributes for each team were picked during a reaping ceremony March 26. These tributes have the responsibility of leading their individual teams throughout the competition.
The tributes are:
Green Team: Travis Wottring, Ashley Petitt
Orange Team: Charlie Miller, Gina Smith
Blue Team: Hannah Ringler, Gabe Anweiler
Red Team: Emily Shively, Hunter Reed
All of the tributes are ready to show what their teams are made of, and they are hoping their teams come prepared to win it all.
“Be prepared to slay GC campus with orange,” said a very excited Gina Smith after the reaping ceremony.
Hunter Reed, from the red team, has a message that is reminiscent of a popular hockey movie from the ‘90s:
“Great moments are born from great opportunity. That’s what you have here. That’s what you’ve earned here. One weekend. If we played ‘em ten times, they might win nine, but not this time. Not here. This time, we stay with them, and we shut them down because we can!
“This time, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. Whoops, I meant Olympiad team, common mistake. You were born to be Olympiad players. Every one of you, and you were meant to be here. This is your time. Their time is done. It’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great team the Green, Blue and Orange are. This is your time. Now go out there and take it.”
What the tributes really want, however, and the reason the Olympiad was started here at Grace, is to help build a stronger community.
“I hope my team will get new friendships out of Olympiad, as well as great memories,” said Gina Smith.
You don’t have to be athletic to participate and enjoy Olympiad. SAB wants you to come out and enjoy a weekend of fellowship with your fellow students!
