USA Today shared what they thought were the ten worst states for retirement. These states were chosen based on property taxes, climate, living costs, crime rates and more. Among the ten worst states were Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska and New York. Looks like all those old people who retire to Florida know what they’re doing. Count me in.
An ongoing drought in Granbury, Texas, caused lower water levels in a nearby lake. The problem? A passer-by discovered a partially exposed Chevy truck with skeletal remains inside. The woman had been missing for 35 years. I guess her lakeside picnic didn’t go so well.
NASA’s Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) completed its mission and rests on the far side of the moon after the retired spacecraft’s planned crash. Now its remains are “mysterious as the dark side of the moon.” Literally. Now how many of you are going to have that song stuck in your head?
An abrupt lurch in a Wyoming landslide caused a house to split in two last Friday. By the time the ground started shifting an inch a day back on April 9, authorities were forced to evacuate 42 houses and apartments in the area. This reminds me of that house you could buy in the game “Life.” It was split in half, but I always bought it because it was cheap. I guess I belong in Wyoming.
Ohio couple, Helen, 92, and Kenneth Felumlee, 91, passed away within 16 hours of each other. The couple had eloped and been married for 70 years. Their families stated that they knew the couple couldn’t stand to be apart for very long and that they knew Kenneth’s death would follow Helen’s shortly. Good old “Notebook” style…
