Ghosts to Take Over the Little Theatre Beginning this Weekend

The word is out: The Little Theatre is haunted.
Well, kind of.
Beginning this Friday, “Ghost Show,” a musical comedy to be performed by some of your favorite Grace College ghouls, will open in the Little Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
This musical follows college student, Anna Martin, as she fights against all odds to thwart the money-grubbing Margaret Parsimony from tearing down a dilapidated Ravenwood Theatre. Little does Anna Martin know that the Ravenwood Theatre is home to not only forgotten memories, but the talented and loveable spirits of performers who have graced the Ravenwood’s stage in years past.
“Ghost Show” not only introduces the audience to a variety of musical stars, but to several musical genres as well. Jessica Taylor, a senior who plays the ghost of Edwardian stage actress, Elizabeth Hart, said that she loves the swing music because it’s “so catchy and danceable.” She explained that “‘Ghost Show’ is so enjoyable because it goes through all the genres of theater and music! It’s quirky, fun and super entertaining.”
Tanor Joy, a senior who plays the ghost of vaudevillian comedian, Dooley O’Bannon, most enjoys the hip-hop and techno music performed in “Ghost Show.” In order to prepare for his role, Joy said, “I’ve been watching YouTube videos of vaudeville comedians and practicing speaking in my accent, even when it’s not rehearsal time.”
“Ghost Show” is not a well-known musical, but one that Emily Caldwell, a freshman performing as the ghost of dancer Carmen Astaire, believes everyone should see. She explained, “Audiences should come to see ‘Ghost Show’ because it is a newer musical, it is funny and everyone will enjoy it.”
Tyler Tillett, a freshman who plays the assistant of villainous Margaret Parsimony, describes the musical as “charming.”
“Ghost Show” is a hilarious musical for people of all ages, with tastes in all genres of music. The show, presented through special arrangement with P&J Productions, will be performed on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 1, 2 and 3, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 as well. Tickets are $7 for students and $9 for adults and can be purchased with cash or FLEX at Jazzman’s, Tree of Life and at the door.
