Ring by Spring? Some Lancers Get Engaged Even Earlier
As many of you know, a lot of our fellow Lancers have gotten engaged this Fall semester. Love has surely been in this fall air, and guys have been in the lake. I am sure you all have your theories about why everyone seems to be getting engaged now, well here are mine.
- Fall has cool temperatures. No guy wants to sweat more than he needs to, he is surely sweating already.
- It’s sweater season. Girls love sweaters.
- They are at school with all of their friends. Audiences make the experience more exciting.
- Summer is a busy time of year; guys easily could have forgotten to ask then.
- Rings might go on sale in the Fall. That seems plausible.
- Early Fall engagement could mean gaining an extra Thanksgiving dinner.
- Fall engagements make for good Instagram pictures.
Remember those are just my thoughts. Here are some accounts from guys here at Grace College.
Sophomore Tyler Zufan says “I got engaged in the fall because I didn’t wanna wait any longer. Plus, with being engaged in the fall it gives us 8 months to plan for the wedding. We wanted a summer wedding, and if we would have gotten engaged any other time than the fall then we wouldn’t have had enough time to plan everything. And the fall is when our anniversary is. Yay!”
Senior Andrew Rupp had a different story. “Well with such an amazing girl as Laura, the sooner the engagement/marriage, the better! We had talked a lot about marriage and I knew that was what we wanted to proceed with. We discussed the fact that it made sense to get married during the summer after graduating and that a reasonable engagement was 9-12 months long. I was in Argentina during the Spring when I came to the conclusion that, according to our plan, we could be getting engaged in a few months! The complication of time apart studying abroad and wanting to get engaged back home in Pennsylvania led to us having an amazing day and getting engaged on October 13th! …Her version of the story: it was about a year and a half overdue (the extent of our time dating).
Junior Jimmy Elsner had this to say “The fall was good for our engagement because were planning on a summer wedding. Fall is also an acceptable time for nighttime walks and nighttime walks are perfect for proposing It would be rather suspicious to say, “let’s go for a walk in the -2 degree weather, it’ll be engaging”
