Meet Head Baseball Coach, Cam Screeton
By Justin Perry
Q As the interim head coach, what are your goals for this season?
A Our goals for this season are to grow spiritually, grow academically, improve every day, get our team to compete at a high level consistently and compete for a conference championship.
Q What is your coaching and playing experience with baseball?
A I played at Indiana Wesleyan University and received my degree in Sports Management. I coached with the Indiana Chargers for the last three summers and I was the assistant coach at Grace last year.
Q What do you think of the team?
A This team is awesome. They are very hard workers and are willing to do what it takes to get better. And they push each other to grow in their walks with Christ.
Q How does the freshman class look to you?
A The freshman class is very promising. We have a great group of upperclassmen they can watch and learn how to compete from.
Q Are there any impact players you might be relying on this season?
A As far as impact players, we have a lot of them. The thing about baseball is it goes far beyond your “best player.” We need the whole team to compete at a high level each time we step on the field.
Q You played Western Michigan towards the beginning of the season. What did your team take away from the experience?
A The Western Michigan game was a great experience. We competed really well and learned a lot about how the defending MAC champs compete. Our pitchers and hitters learned about approach and mindset.
Q Over Spring Break, the team went 5-1. Was there anything you all took away from that week?
A We had a great week in Florida. We learned a lot from Coach Tom Roy on keeping Christ at the center of our lives. We also learned a lot about ourselves as a team and picked up some things we need to work on.
