Grace MSOC Moves to Conference Championship

by Justin Perry

“Holy cow!” yelled the color commentator in the press box at 1st Source Bank Field as Marcelo Talamas bicycle-kicked the ball with 90 seconds to go to give the Lancers the 2-1 win over Goshen. This win sent Grace to the Crossroads League Championship where the Lancers will face Spring Arbor.

Lancer fans were nervous when Goshen was able to get the game in motion putting up a goal in the middle of the first half. The Maple Leafs were able to score on a penalty kick. Early in the second half, Grace was able to shoot a penalty kick of their own after a handball violation in the box. Colin Cape tied it all up for the Lancers.

The Lancers had a problem with not being able to capitalize. Aside from the penalty kick, Grace had 24 shots in the entire game and only one of those went in. Goshen on the other hand, had three shots.

Depending on what happens at Spring Arbor, Grace may have the opportunity to go to wither the NCCAA National Championship or the NAIA National Championship. Keep looking for updates on our Facebook page to see what happens!
