Get to Know the Student Body President, Jonah Pettet

By Lydia Gard

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Year: 4th year senior

Hometown: Bourbonnais, Ill.

SB: What is your favorite aspect of Grace College?

JP: I really love the intentionality of the community here… both students and staff really care about the students and really want to invest in them.

SB: How do you feel about your new role as Student Body President?

JP: I am really excited. I am pleased to get to serve students in this role and look forward to being able to interact with them to make their lives here at Grace all the more pleasant.

SB: What are some of your responsibilities as Student Body President?

JP: My main responsibility as Student Body President is leading Student Senate and empowering Senators to go out and get a read on the campus and on the students. Then we come back and discuss ways to help students and improve their time here at Grace.

SB: What are some goals you have for this school year (related to campus, Senate, or otherwise)?

JP: I really want students to become more integrated in Senate. I would really like for Senate this year to transition into mainstream Grace and have both our organization and our purpose more well-known to students.

SB: What are some events or topics you are most excited about in regards to this school year?

JP: We are going to be doing a lot with the national election, so I’m really excited to inform students of the different stances and events that are going on in relation to the election in a very informative, non-biased way.

SB: What do you like to do in your free time, that is, if you have any?

JP: I am a big gamer; I love the XBOX. I love hosting people in my apartment. I’m so much of a food pusher… anytime anyone comes in I ask “Do you want donuts? Do you want apple juic?”

SB: Do you play Pokémon Go? If so, what level have you reached?

JP: Oh, heck yes. I’m a big Pokémon Go player. I’m at level 17.

SB: Is there anything else you would like to say to the student body?

JP: I am here for them and would love their input on anything and everything Grace College.
