Get to Know the Final Two SBP Candidates

As result of the primary elections, candidates Ryan Cameron and Jessica Zvers are still up for election as next year’s Student Body President.  Take some time to get to know them by reviewing their interviews from the most recent edition of the Sounding Board.  General election voting will take place Feb. 14-15.

Tell us about yourself.

I am a third year at Grace and a proud RA of Beta One.  I am a double major in Biblical studies and information systems with a minor in intercultural studies.

Why are you running for SBP?

I am running because I want to serve Grace and try to serve the students in any way that I can. The past two years I have worked as an RA for Grace.  I believe that being an RA  has shaped me as a leader and  formed relationships with administration.  This experience will help me to be efficient when it comes to listening to the concerns of students and discussing the concerns with administration.  I want to be a voice for the concerns and thoughts of students, so all feel heard.

As SBP, what noticeable differences would exist on campus due to your leadership?

My campaign is centered around building better relationships between Resident life  (RA’s, RD’s, directors) and student senate so that we can have meaningful conversations to get the change the students want.

Diversity is also a huge part of my campaign. I want to protect not only racial and ethnic diversity, but also diversity of thought. Diversity is not about everyone thinking the same way or doing the same things. Diversity is about understanding differences in thought and action and respecting those ideas. One of the ways I hope to implement this is by trying to create a complaint service where people can feel heard.

Finally,  I want to make senators more visible on campus, because student senators can make change. Everyone knows who their RA’s are but most people do not know their student senators. I want to try and change that.

What is one interesting thing students might not know about you?

In my free time my favorite thing to do is spend time in Jazzman’s on campus, talking to people and listening.

Tell us about yourself.

I am a secondary social studies education major.  I live on Indy One, and I am currently a GGL for my hall.  I am a sophomore going all four years at Grace.  I LOVE ice cream (specifically anything mint or carmel) and I LOVE to run.

Why are you running for SBP?

I am running for Student Body President because I love Grace College and the people here, soI want to serve them. I love the Christ centered environment that Grace College is and stands for. I want to serve the Lord and His people through this position by helping to continue to put Jesus first in our campus mission. I want to listen to ideas from students and faculty to help make this campus even better for all students and staff. I want to help put those ideas into action. I am a joy filled person and I desire to grow the love and joy for Jesus on our campus.

As SBP what noticeable differences would exist on campus due to your leadership?

A big part of why I want to be your Student Body President is to make an impact. I want all students to know that Senate and myself want to help everyone at Grace with any idea they may have. I want all students to love and enjoy being at Grace, whether that be with events or dorm life. One major idea that I have would be striving to increase the handicap accessibility at Grace, whether that be in buildings or with doors.

What is one interesting thing students might not know about you?

I was in the circus for five years!
