A Christ-like Response to Politics

By Destiny Blake

The election process is in full swing as the presidential candidates battle it out to prove to the United States of America that they should be the next president. While that is very important to everyone living in the country, it can sometimes be a hard concept for Christians. What is our role in the election, when most of the issues have nothing to do with the religious problems that most Christians feel should be discussed?

That isn’t important, however. What’s important is that we as Christians learn to trust more in the Lord. We are told to love every single person no matter what the cause. There are no exceptions to that, even when we wish there were. Now I know that it can be extremely hard to love Trump, but 1 John 4:7-8 says “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

God will do amazing things through people. We need to learn to trust more in Him in the upcoming election. If you don’t like any of the candidates, which is currently me, then you need to learn to trust that God will do what’s best for you in the long run.

So when you’re thinking about who to vote for in the presidential election next year, trust God to make the decision for you. After all, faith is about believing in Him completely to do things according to His will for your life.
